FAQ
Distribution Cost Fee is a charge that applies to all booking made via global distribution systems (GDS). It is collected at the time of ticketing and is intended to alleviate the charges imposed by GDS to Air Serbia.
The amount of the DCF fee depends on the territory where the JU segment is booked:
- Serbia – 6 EUR
- Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia – 7 EUR
- America (South and North) – 9 EUR
Effective for ticketing from July 1st, 2021 and onwards, the DCF will apply per segment, whenever Air Serbia participates as a marketing carrier in the itinerary. DCF does not apply to EMDs.
The Distribution Cost Fee applies per segment regardless of operating carrier whenever JU is the marketing carrier. Where multiple marketing carriers appear on a ticket, the Distribution Cost Fee applies only to the segment where JU participate as marketing carrier.
The surcharge applies irrespective of the ticket stock. In cases where JU is marketing carrier on a ticket issued by another airline, the surcharge will be collected.
The Distribution Cost Fee is part of the "total amount" on the ticket. It is displayed in the tax box similar to other fees/taxes/surcharges.
The DCF is filed by using the "YR" tax code and will be priced automatically during fare quotation by GDSs.

- Some markets may be exempted from the DCF for regulatory or other reasons
Yes, for several years now, Airlines around the world are collecting fees in order to offset the costs of distribution in GDSs.
The DCF is applied to bookings created via GDS channels. Bookings created in the direct channel do not incur a DCF. Travel Agents may use Air Serbia web site to issue tickets for their customers without the DCF. Other direct channels are available as well including Air Serbia Mobile App, Contact Center and Retail Shops.
During reissue/exchange DCF is collected on the additional segments added to the itinerary.
Examples*:
- Ticket having 1 segment (DCF x1), reissued to ticket with 1 segment: no additional DCF should be collected
- Ticket having 1 segment (DCF x1), reissued to ticket with 2 segments: one additional DCF should be collected
- Ticket having 2 segments (DCF x1), reissued to ticket with 4 segments: two additional DCF should be collected
- Ticket having 2 segments (DCF x2), reissued to ticket with 1 segment: remaining DCF will not be refunded, but considered as paid to new ticket and respective Refund Applications (if any) will be rejected
* The following example is based on the tickets issued in Serbia, other markets have different DCF levels.
