Air Serbia continues with its activities aimed at protecting nature, improving green spaces, and strengthening its contributions to protecting the environment, confirming its long-term dedication to sustainable development and responsible business. Caring for nature is a key part of our company strategy, which entails aligning our business growth with preserving resources and creating a positive impact on the community.
Ahead of the International Day of Forests, 99 tree seedlings were planted near the Avala Tower on Avala in cooperation with PUE Srbijašume. Symbolically, one tree for each year of the national carrier’s existence. Seedlings of spruce, fir, pine, and oak play a significant role in the restoration of forest ecosystems, the preservation of biodiversity, and the improvement of air quality. Planting them contributes to the stability of natural systems, the renewal of soil, and the long-term maintenance of ecological balance, thereby directly supporting a healthier and more sustainable environment.
Air Serbia is actively developing a volunteering culture within the company, with the goal of fostering humanitarian and socially beneficial activities. In line with this, the Avala tree planting initiative was realized by the members of the company’s Volunteers Club.
“People are Air Serbia’s greatest strength. We are aware of the responsibility we have towards the community and the environment we do business in. All members of our Volunteers Club are gathered by the desire to contribute in a measurable way to preserving nature and leaving something of lasting value to future generations through concrete initiatives such as tree planting and improving green spaces,” said Ivana Kosić, Sustainable Development Manager at Air Serbia.
“Conservation and improvement of forests in protected areas is one of the priorities in the operations of PUE Srbijašume Ltd. It is especially important to us when socially responsible companies, such as Air Serbia, recognize the significance of these activities. After last year’s planting campaign at Košutnjak, this year we are continuing our collaboration on Avala, and we believe that this joint initiative will grow into a tradition,” said Zoran Davorija, Director of Forest Estate at the PUE Srbijašume Ltd. Belgrade.
Each tree planted represents an investment in the future and a symbol of shared responsibility. Such activities not only contribute to the preservation of natural resources but also raise awareness of the importance of sustainable development and collective action toward creating a healthier environment. Air Serbia will continue to implement initiatives aimed at environmental protection, the enhancement of ecological standards, and the strengthening of responsible business practices, with a clear vision of long-term sustainability.
