31 January 2026
Air Serbia’s fleet has grown with another Embraer E-195 aircraft, registration YU-ATD, which has successfully landed in Belgrade. The aircraft was manufactured in 2015, has 118 seats, and after completing all necessary procedures, will be deployed on European destinations of the national airline.
The plane is equipped with General Electric engines and flies at a maximum altitude of 12,500 meters. It received the new Air Serbia livery in San Jose, Costa Rica, from where it began the demanding ferry flight to Serbia. The journey to Belgrade lasted three days and followed a route over North America and the Atlantic. The flight started in San Jose, continued to New York (JFK airport), then to Canada with a technical stop in Goose Bay, proceeded over Greenland with a stop in Keflavik, Iceland, and finally completed the flight to Belgrade. During the ferry flight, the aircraft covered more than 12,000 kilometres, with the most challenging part of the route, in terms of meteorological and operational conditions, being the Atlantic crossing.
Captain Damir Maršić, an Air Serbia technical pilot on the Embraer E-195 aircraft with nearly 5,000 flight hours, highlighted the reliability and modern features of this aircraft type: “Although I have flown this type of aircraft to different continents and in very diverse weather conditions, the Embraer E-195 has always proven to be an extremely reliable plane. As one of the most modern aircraft today, it offers a high level of comfort both in the cockpit and in the passenger cabin. The cabin layout with two seats per row is particularly popular among passengers, which is one of the reasons Air Serbia chose this aircraft type.
The Embraer E-195 is most commonly used on regional and European routes, where it provides an optimal combination of speed, efficiency, and passenger comfort. With the arrival of aircraft YU-ATD, Air Serbia’s fleet has been further strengthened, now totalling thirty aircraft of various types. The continuous enhancement of the fleet is part of the company’s long-term strategy aimed at developing its destination network, increasing flight frequency, and further improving service quality for passengers.
